Little Lovely, and Landscaping | Hopewell, NJ Photographer

Monday, July 19th, 2010

If you’ve seen our house you’ve probably noticed and most likely commented to your partner/neighbor/friend about our landscaping (you can admit it, my feelings won’t be hurt).  It was truly the stuff of neighborhood horror.  Like “they’re driving down the already abysmal house prices with that mess” bad.  One landscaper I contacted called the look “schizophrenic.”  He was being kind.  So imagine my excitement when the second landscaper I contacted coincidentally happened to be the husband of someone I work with – someone with a baby who was planning to get in touch with me for photos!  We talked plants and weeds and photos and soon a deal was struck.

This past weekend, all the magic happened.  The front garden was transformed from an embarrassing eyesore to a wondrous oasis.  And I got my hands and my lens on another gorgeous little baby.  This child was so sweet – she never cried once and we had her in about 6 outfits, several hats, a stool, a chair and a basket, both indoors and out.  She was a trooper and what a face!  I could take a million pictures of her and never get bored.

Here’s to the innocence of babies and the community spirit of a good barter.

And in case you’re wondering, the landscaping turned out great…look, no more schizophrenia!  (Need a good landscaper in the Mercer County area?)

Something Different

Slight spin-off of my previous post about broadening my horizons, except here there’s a pun intended.  Although I will never, ever tire of portraiture, we went on a train ride last weekend through some beautiful countryside and I couldn’t help but snap some photos of the vistas.

Visiting the Farm

This child could not get enough of seeing the sheep, or of climbing that fence.  His monkey also enjoyed the farm.
