Studio Tour: “It’s Artsy” | Hopewell, NJ Studio Photographer

May 7th, 2012

It is always with a bit of trepidation that I introduce new clients to my studio.  I’m under no illusion regarding its grandeur and pretty quickly, neither are they.  After uttering my standard preparation speech which includes phrases like: “it’s ghetto/unfinished, it’s not heated/air-conditioned, but I promise the photos will turn out beautifully!” clients enter the space and the magic happens.  Recently I had an adult headshot client who remarked: “it’s not ghetto – it’s artsy!”  And with that positive spin and vote of confidence I’ve decided to post a little tour of the space.  Because it’s artsy!  No apologies.  :)

There are chairs and things that hang.

Fun things that small people look cute on.

Oooh, backdrops galore!

There is a “grass” rug.

There is a “wood” floor.

There is a very old heating unit which scares me too much to use.

There are backdrops and lights.

Hat mayhem!

Come by and visit!

Oscar Day | Mercer County Newborn Photographer

April 7th, 2012

It was purely coincidence that I got to meet and photograph newborn Oscar on the day of the Academy Awards.  The cute comments I was able to make afterwards were worth it alone, but mere icing on the cake when you factor in the Oscar I actually got to hold.

Oscar made his debut after an extremely fast labor for a first baby (3 hours!!!!).  Only a week old when I met him, he seemed completely comfortable at home where his friendly, warm and hilarious parents were quite obviously over the moon.  He really, really did not want to sleep for us – the plus side: I got to hold and rock him a lot which I love!  He fought the swaddle like a champ.  And he looked really very dashing in grey.

Meeting a family during the first weeks of their new baby’s life is a gift  – it is such a tender time.  Thank you for sharing it with me.  I hope you love the photos.

Unscripted Vol. 2 – A Morning in the Life of Nate

April 6th, 2012

The Unscripted series has been so amazingly wonderful and different from typical photo sessions.  To be invited into a family’s home and participating their everyday family life in order to document the beautiful moments which otherwise elude us so quickly…it’s really the best.

I met this family during the holiday madness season and immediately liked their relaxed, fun style.  Their infant son is about the cutest little guy ever, too.  I was thrilled when mom contacted me about doing an Unscripted session; aside from my slightly unhealthy interest in other people’s homes, I really liked this family and looked forward to getting to know them all a little better.

The session was so much fun.  I learned that dad has an interest in local history/flavor and mom has a talent for designing children’s bedrooms (totally need that service).  I learned that we share a common sentiment for the work and heartache associated with owning an old home.  I learned that their son is charming, handsome and very well-loved.

I’m presenting only the B&W conversions for this preview because this is how I imagined the Unscripted series.  Simple, unassuming, beautiful.  Just like this lovely family.

Hope you love the photos.

Baby Fever (Special)! | Mercer County NJ Newborn Photographer

January 12th, 2012

Winter makes me long for spring, and spring makes me think of babies and thinking of babies makes me well, want a baby!  But that’s not in the cards for us this year, so in order to work baby fever out of my system I want to get my hands on some gorgeous newborns.  To help speed this process along, I’d excited to offer some special pricing on in-home newborn sessions booked for February and March.  Yay!
Newborn sessions should take place within first 10 days of the baby’s life in order to get the most womb-like cuteness and sleepy deliciousness.  If you are expecting a baby in February or March and would like to book a session, you will get 25% off my normal newborn package pricing – email me for more information.  There is no limit to this offer, I’ll take as many newborns as I can get in February and March.  And I have some great new props and backdrops to try out too.  It’s a win-win!

Owen at One | Hopewell, NJ Handsome Toddler Photographer

January 4th, 2012

Owen was amazing at 3 months – all eyes and sweetness, I immediately loved his gorgeous face.  And he did not disappoint at one: still handsome, still appraising with those stunning eyes, and now also asserting himself with a sweet voice, agile (and quick) movements and a great personality.  As always, I enjoyed catching up with his mom – lovely and gracious despite the fact that she drove quite a distance for our session (and on a poor night’s sleep because someone still wakes EVERY TWO HOURS at night)!  So Owen, while I love you and I could photograph you all day long…give your mom a break, ok?  Hope you love the photos.   And I hope next time I see you everyone is getting a solid 8 hours every night.  :)

Gorgeous Boy | Hopewell, NJ Child (and Star) Photographer

January 2nd, 2012

My neighbors are great…everyone in my town that I have the pleasure to know is great, actually.  But I love my neighbors across the street.  They are kind, thoughtful (brought us HOMEMADE mince pies!) and fun and their son is just breathtakingly handsome.  I was thrilled to get this little guy in front of my camera – he is definitely a natural and I suspect will be a bit of a heart-breaker in not-too-many years to come.  Speaking of which, I better keep my eye on my Claire!  :)  Hope you love the photos.
